in oakland, i'm da lin, cbs 5. >> thank you. >>> an 11-year-old daly city boy is dead after a police chase in pasadena. joe vazquez on the accident and neighbors who are devastated by the news. joe. >> reporter: the victim, allen, is 11-year-old kendrick ing here with his family on 89th street in daly city. they are presumed still to be in southern california dealing with the aftermath of this horrible crash. the family was in southern california in pasadena on christmas day visiting relatives. as they were riding in a minivan police were chasing a suspect in an suv through the streets. the chase went a mile and less than a minute then the suspect vehicle failed to stop for a red light and smashed into the minivan. two cousins were killed including an 11-year-old in daly city. three others were badly hurt. in oakland, i'm da lin, cbs 5. >>> in washington, it's coming down to the wire. only five days until we go tumbling over the "fiscal cliff." president obama is supposed to meet with congressional leaders tomorrow. cbs reporter danielle nottingham is in washington and danielle, how's it looking? >> reporter: well, elizabeth, there was not a lot of optimism on capitol hill today. both senate leaders admitting that congress is facing a hard deadline while at the same time, blaming each other for not having a deal in place by now. president obama cut short his holiday vacation and returned to the white house to work on a deal to avoid the "fiscal cliff." before flying home from hawaii, the president called congressional leaders nancy pelosi, john boehner, mitch mcconnell and harry reid to reach agreements before tax hikes and spending cuts kick in january 1. >> we have been asking the president and the democrats to work with us on a bipartisan agreement for months. >> i don't know time wise how it can happen now. >> reporter: the senate majority leader wants house republicans to return from th

. live in san francisco, cate caugiran, cbs 5. >>> three members and one family died in a weekend fire in east san jose. a couple and their 4-year-old granddaughter were trapped on the upper floor. firefighters arrived in just minutes but the entire building was already engulfed in flames. >> this fire somehow got a really big head start on us. it burned hot and it burned very fast. it consumed most of the apartment even within a three minute response time for us. >> the two victims had lived in the complex for about 20 years. their granddaughter also died. and another family member was reported to be in intensive care. two other people suffered smoke inhalation including a san jose police officer who tried to help those victims. >>> a new health problem for secretary of state hillary clinton. she is in a hospital in new york this morning with a blood clot. her doctors discovered the clot yesterday in a follow-up exam following a concussion she suffered earlier this month. her spokesman says the clot is related to the concussion. but he is not saying where the clot is located. she is b
